About Erika Jurney and The Plain Jane Mom Blog

My life in California with my husband Craig and our sons Henry (6.5), Ed (6), and Charlie (3.75).

My husband Craig and I live in amazingly beautiful Northern California with our three boys. We adopted our first child, Henry, after almost 5 years of trying to get and stay pregnant — including 4 miscarriages. Two days before we adopted him, we found out I was pregnant with the embryo who would later be known as Eddie. Henry and Eddie are only 8 months apart! 2 years later I got pregnant with Charlie, and the rest is (very messy, smelly, and loud) history. Yes, it's true, we have 3 boys who are less than 3 years apart.

(In posts prior to May, 2008 you'll see that I used pseudonyms for my kids. Here's the translation: "Mike" is Henry, "Robbie" is Ed, and "Chip" is Charlie.)

» The cameras I use:

My current favorites are my Sony Alpha DSLR-A300 for stills and my Sony HDR-SR10 for video. I edit the video on my Mac with iMovie.

In my purse or pocket I keep my Sony Cybershot DSC-T2 and my Apple iPhone.

For underwater I use my Canon Powershot A510 with an underwater housing.

My first SLR was a Nikon EM, and then my mom gave me her nicer Nikon (whose model number I can't remember right now). When my husband (then my boyfriend) and I moved in together, I bought a Canon faux SLR, and I don't remember that model number either. I have also had a Sony DSC-F828, a Sony DCR-TRV19, and a Razr phone.

I shot Super 8 and Regular 8 film using whatever camera was available at my school (SF Art Institute) and whatever I could scrounge at Goodwill or my grandparents garage.

I used a lot of Polaroid peel-off film in an old camera I found at the Salvation Army.

As a kid I had an assortment of point-and-shoot cameras where the film came in those thick smelly wrappers and the flashbulbs gave off a faintly carcinogenic smoke when they fired.

My first camera was my dad's Brownie Hawkeye.
