Holy crap, I just realized we’re in the middle of a ’staycation’ — I think that is possibly the worst word recently invented. But who has the money to go anywhere? My dream family vacation is renting a house in the middle of Switzerland with cows, trains, gondolas, cheese, sun, green and such, but really… Now is not the time!
So instead Craig and I have taken this week off from work and are taking the boys on local adventures. For example, today we finally saw Wall-E. (Very cute.) And we’re planning on doing some things like visiting the Lego store, watching hours of Lympics on Tivo, going to see Clone Wars, hitting the beach if the weather warms up, and so on.
It’s better than better than nothing :)

Ooh, you know what you should do on you staycation? Drink a lot. That’s what I do. Whether I’m on staycation or not. But add a little paper umbrella and then it’ll feel like you’re on a cruise. Kind of.

Awesome photo. Warm up? The weather isn’t warm enough for the beach? I had a one day staycation, which included doc appt, eyebrow waxing, reading in a cafe for 30 minutes, and the rest of the afternoon in a pool after I finally let the kids jion me.

You get to hit a beach on a staycation??? Just think of the folks who have to fly somewhere to see a beach and the money they’ve spent. You come out ahead. :)

Oh, we just did this too! Todd took a week off and we hit the zoo, children’s gardens..all that fun local stuff that we usually do while he’s stuck at work. It was so fun! Not that I would turn down a “real” vacation – but it’s better than a poke in the eye!

My husband is on vacation this week. Again. We’re just staying around here and getting things done. Besides, the kids are already back in school. Which means, we’ve already spent more than we should have on school shopping. Vacation isn’t any fun with no money anyway!
