Is there a Murphy's Law for sleep?

Tuesday, 4 September 2007 Comments »

Last night at 10 as I was falling asleep, I congratulated myself on getting to bed at a reasonable hour.

Then:

11pm: Fucking cat woke me up yowling about something or other.

Midnight: Craig came to bed after watching US Open tennis and woke me up complaining about cat pee on the floor.

2am: Chip woke me up to untangle his blanket (I think. He's two, so sometimes I think he's just messing with me.)

4am: Robbie woke up screaming with a nightmare.

5:30am: For no good reason I was just suddenly AWAKE 30 minutes before my alarm was supposed to go off.

So neat, now I'm practically in a coma — perfect way to start my week, right? Sigh…

Oh man, my neighbours sounded like they were setting off fireworks at 6am.
At least it wasn't dump trucks like last week.

Your problem was that you congratulated yourself. Universal forces had to intervene because things can not work out well for anyone. You know that.

I have this sleep situation where I go to bed, fall asleep only to be awake several hours later by my husband's snoring. Those deep guttural snores that startle the whole block. It's awful!

I have the cat, the snoring husband, and two babies waking up all hours:( Translation-I never get sleep, if I can string four hours together at once, I'm lucky. "I feel your pain."

Replace "fucking cat" with "fucking dogs" and you'll pretty much have my house at least one night a week!

    Hang in there…

Oh i know about not sleeping I haven't slept since Tues it has been a rough (but fun) week.

First there was Wed night when I met Donnie wahlberg at a club that he was going to be at celebrating his b-day (he was my childhood/teen idol so I had to go) I didn't get home until after 1am forget about sleeping, yeah i was too giddy. Then on thurs i worked until almost midnight so forget it, went out on friday and didn't get home until 6am on saturday. I know naughty naughty, had to be up to help my father set up a wedding for my cousin (my father did the flowers) at 8:30 am didnt' get home until after 1am then on sunday had some stuff to do but was too tired to sleep does that make sense, finally got some sleep yesterday but today i'm dragging ass and its another long night tonight. won't be home until 10:30pm. Oh well, you sleep when you are dead.

Glad to see you are posting again, we missed you.

Must of been something in the alignment of the stars or moon or something, b/c this was almost a replica of my night last night…

Oh, Erika, I hear ya. This is always happening to me. I may as well stay up late, I'd get the same amount of sleep. Hope the week continues better than it started!

Yes, why is it that besides kids waking us up all night we have to add fucking animals to the mix?

    Amen!
I always get mad when Gavin tells Nicholas to sleep in the next day, because N *never ever* does - he always wakes up earlier than usual!

So many days like this in the past 3 years. If it is not my son, it's my nightowl husband, the dog or one of the cats. If somehow they're all sleeping, then I have a nightmare. Or some rogue plane gets rerouted from Logan. Or some thugs set off car alarm. For fun. Since this city shuts down early.
