Thanks Melanie for passing along the tragic story at A Pile of Dog Bones. They just lost their 5 year old son in a swimming pool accident. I would imagine that words of support are appreciated, and there is also a way for you to donate to the family if you would like.

Oh, I'm sure you know how close this is to my heart.

For we had a similar incident with a much different outcome…..And my heart aches for that family.

My prayers and thoughts are with them…..and my hope is for much peace for them as well.

Just thinking that this nightmare is a parent's reality makes me want to barf.

I can offer my sincerest condolences… which at a time like this, won't ever be enough to comfort their family. Pure and utter sadness.

I first found this link through Vodkarella and just couldn't go to sleep after watching the videos of him and his son. It was crushing.

I realize that we can't live every moment as though it is our last with those we love (otherwise we would all be terribly manic and annoying), but after a story like this, it is impossible to not hold your children just a little bit closer.

Thank you for spreading this a little wider.

    Thanks, Erika, for this post.
I have felt like the breath was sucked out of me since I read about this at Avitable's blog. This really is one of the worst things that could happen, and it just seems so damn unfair.
