Why do I do it? The reasons they are many, but I am only authorized to tell you the first five…

Tuesday, 1 May 2007 Comments »

I blog for many reasons. I don’t have to apologize, appease or placate anyone. Every single bit of my blog is the way it is because I want it to be that way, and I love having one place where I am in 100% complete control.

Before I had a blog I was always coming up with random notions and thoughts — and springing them on Mr. Plain. Lucky man, now he doesn’t have to listen to my random synapse firings. (You do!)

I’ve gotten to meet other parents like myself. Parents who don’t feel the need to appliqué and bake in order to create the perfect childhood for their offspring. (Of course, if you bake or sew, more power to you!)

Blogging forces me to set aside time to be mindful of my parenting and my life.

But most of all, blogging makes bad days more bearable. Something craptastic will happen and after the initial shock, I think to myself, “Self, this will make a great post!” and somehow that realization makes me feel so much better.

So thank you White Trash Mom for making me come up with 5 reasons I blog. Now I tag anyone out there who wants to do this meme. Try it — it’s fun!

I, too, suffer from random synapse firing syndrome. Hence the blog! ;)

I mean, I EMBRACE my random synapse firing syndrome! It’s not that I “suffer” from anything. Cough.

I changed my feeds over to full display last night.
I thought I’d tell you, since your campaigning on behalf of full feeds was what won me back over to your side… ain’t you pleased?
    :)

It’s a funny thing: of the moms I know who do actually enjoy sewing, baking, or something of that nature, most don’t do it to make their kid’s childhood perfect. Most, in fact, feel a little guilty that they’re spending time doing these things that no longer have to be done by hand — as if they’re somehow taking something away from their families by not spending 100% of their available time and attention on the kids.

Probably something I should write a post on, sometime. Need I add that I like all of your reasons for blogging?
