Is April Fool’s day going to last all day long? Because I don’t think I can keep laughing until bedtime.
The boys were watching Nick Jr. and they said something about April Fool’s Day. So of course, they wondered what the April Fool was going to bring them today!
After I cleared that little misconception up, I told them that they were the ones to do the fooling. I suggested they go say good morning to Mr. Plain and ask him if he wanted some coffee. Then we put some water in the cup instead… hilarity!
But now the fun just won’t stop. They are “fooling” each other over and over again. For example, “Mike, do you want some juice?” “Sure!” (run run run, bring back cup of water) “Hey, this isn’t juice!” “April Fools!!”
Want more? OK. “Mommy, I have your… scanner!” “Thanks honey” (pulls teddy bear out from behind his back) “Hey, that’s not my scanner!” “APRIL FOOLS DAY!!”
I might not survive this ;)

My sympathies. Now you know why teachers everywhere are thankful when April Fools isn’t on a school day!
I can really relate to this. On Monday my 6 yr old’s teacher tells them about April Fools Day. Since then he has been telling me all about it and asking if it is “Happy Fools Day” yet. He has even done some of his version of jokes this whole time. Fortunately he seems to have forgotten about it so far today. I certainly won’t remind him about it.
I have neglected to explain April Fools to Adam…he was already wanting to ‘prank’ people thanks to Prank Patrol
And that is why I am so excited that my son is spending the day with grandparents! ;)
Sounds like you’re in for a loooong day!
Mine have big plans — scary plans — but so far, all talk. No implementation yet.
Crossing my fingers.
My seven year day:
8am:hey mom there’s a lion over there! (pause) April fool’s!
9am:hey dad, look, a bald eagle! (pause) April Fool’s!
and so on with brief respite at church.
5pm finds me making Rice Crispy treats: Can I have one?
Me: I’m sorry, I just got off the phone with the doctor. He said you have a terrible sugar allergy and can’t have any more treats. (pause, son turns pale then red) April Fool’s!
Awww, how cute! I remember how much fun April Fools was when I was a kid… couldn’t get enough of it! I can just imagine all the eye-rolling my parents must have done!
The daughter was on the other side of the planet for this year’s April 1, so I got a brief reprieve. Last year I was treated to some very similar scenarios as you described - with the exception of the coffee. It was coffee alright - but with almost a full bottle of blue food coloring as an additive. She got me good. I looked like a zombie slayer for most of the day.
Someone gave my kids a friggin whoopee cushion. If I ever find out who it was they are dead to me!!!!!!
