Screw You Dr. Arthur Agatston. Wait. In 2 weeks I’ll be loving you, so just check back then. M’kay?
3 years ago the South Beach Diet worked great for me and Mr. Plain. Then I got pregnant with Chip and gained it all back. Well, Chip is now 2 and I have no more excuses!
Mr. Plain does all the cooking and grocery shopping, and my Christmas present this year was that he was going to cook south beach-style again. Yay! He’s a great cook, and I’m relieved to be doing this again.
However.
The initial 2 week crap-festival that the diet starts out as is already kicking my ass. And we just started yesterday. I have a headache. I’m tired. Cranky. Dizzy. And hungry. None of the good dwarves.
I really remember that I felt great last time we did this, but not at the beginning. The beginning sucks ass, and that’s where I am now. Don’t worry, this won’t turn into a diet saga blog, but you all should know that I’ve got an even shorter fuse now than I did in 2006. So watch out! And for fuck’s sake, please stop blogging about delicious food. That is really starting to get on my nerves.

If you’re starting South Beach, I highly recommend Kalyn’s Kitchen: http://kalynskitchen.blogspot.com/. And if you’re going to eat any of the frozen meals, please let me know…I’d love to have you as a guest writer on http://heateatreview.com.

I’m not doing South Beach, but I AM doing like 1200-1500 calories a day. So I’m allowed to eat a handful of spinach, 3 pieces of pasta, and 2 sunflower seeds. And that’s about it.

Abi, those are great sites. Thanks for the pointers! I don’t usually eat micro-meals, but if I start I’ll contact you. Thanks for the offer.
she, screw you and everyone who looks like you ;)
Flo, I’d chew off my hands if I tried the pure calorie-restriction kind of diet. I admire your reserve!

We are back on our diet as of yesterday. It is a low cholesterol diet for hubby, and I benefit from it by losing weight.
We are heading to California this summer, and I need to get in shape as well! Agh!

I tried South Beach a few years back, but just couldn’t stick with it. I have no willpower. I love bread way too much! Oh, and phase 1 sucked for me, because I don’t really like eggs! What else is there in phase 1???!!! Nothing, just eggs.
Anyway, good luck to you on sticking it out.

Induction is a bitch, but it works. I’m restarting again as well.
Good luck!

Yeah, the induction sucks big time. I had great success with it last January but have since slid back (read: approaching 8th month pregnancy weight). Must address that. As I sit here wolfing down mac & cheese. I like many of George Stella’s recipes.

I just started the South of Hades diet as well, and I am hating every second of it. Woke up on day 2 and felt like I’d been attacked as I slept by large men with hammers. Fatigue, headaches, nausea, blah blah blah. At least I’m not the only one. I fear my man might leave me if I don’t curb the crankiness, pronto. Please tell me it gets better…and that I’ll actually lose some weight. On day 4 and the scale still reads the same as it did before the nightmare began.

Hi Lulu, yes it does get better — at least it did for me. I started out lethargic, headachy, and cranky — now I’m just cranky ;) Hang in there!

South Beach works great for myself, my family and everyone I know and it has been 3 years now. When reading comments such as “suck ass”, consider the source. Please do some solid homework. Phase 1 is a bit different I have to admit but when one has been eating so unhealthy for so long, the first phase is a bit different. If you go into it with with a bad attitude, you will most likely fail. It saved my life and when it came down to that, 2 weeks is nothing.

Keith, dude, glad it saved your life. However, who are you addressing this comment to? You quote me and then say to “consider the source”?
